Emory radiology celebrates thank a resident day
By Sam Marie Engle
Friday, February 26, is a special day for celebrating the hard work and essential roles residents play in hospitals across the U.S. Emory Radiology is pleased to join with colleagues nationwide in proclaiming gratitude and appreciation for our residents on Thank a Resident Day.
“This past year has been an especially trying year for all of us including our amazing residents,” Dr. Christopher Ho, director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program, says. “This is a wonderful way to honor them for all the work they have done under challenging circumstances.”
Thank a Resident Day was established in 2018 by the Gold Humanitarianism Honor Society of the Arthur P. Gold Foundation. The foundation, established in 1988 by Arnold Gold, MD, and Sandra Gold, EdD, their colleagues at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York, and likeminded philanthropists, is “dedicated to keeping healthcare human.” The 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization "champions humanism in healthcare, which we define as compassionate, collaborative, and scientifically excellent care. This Gold standard of care embraces all and targets barriers to such care. We empower experts, learners, and leaders to together create systems and cultures that support humanistic care for all."
More than 250 medical schools and centers are participating in this year's Thank a Resident Day (click here for the list). Here at Emory Radiology, faculty submitted short video messages of thanks that were compiled into a special video which is being sent to all residents and which can be viewed here.
Lunch also is being provided to the residents during noon conference and a little treat was left in their departmental mailboxes courtesy of our program coordinators Amy Fioramonte, Angela Huff, and Ranitta McDowell.
Please join us in thanking our residents for all they do every day to provide the highest quality patient care throughout the Emory Healthcare system.
