Emory Radiology well-represented at 2019 rsna annual meeting
by Mohsina Yusuf
Every year, radiologists from around the world gather at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois to attend the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting. This year’s annual meeting took place from December 1, 2019 through December 6, 2019, and attendees were greeted with clear blue skies and bright, sunny weather for most of the week, a relieving contrast from last year’s snow storm. Emory University was well-represented this year. There were over 75 presentations from our faculty and staff, each one showcasing our department’s hard work and advancements in research, medicine, quality, and education.
While in Chicago, our department hosted our annual Emory Radiology Alumni Reception at the Ritz-Carlton. Our current faculty and staff had the opportunity to meet or catch up with Emory Radiology alumni over delicious food and a view that overlooked the Chicago skyscrapers.
It was evident throughout the week that Emory Radiology is leaving its footprints in every aspect of the field. Our vice chair for research, Elizabeth Krupinski, received the Outstanding Researcher Award during the opening session on December 1. Emory faculty went on to win three more awards and three grants, while two faculty members were designated new roles with RSNA.
Department Chair Carolyn Meltzer, MD: RSNA Board of Directors
Vice Chair for Imaging Informatics Nabile Safdar, MD: Scientific Program Chair for RSNA Informatics
Vice Chair for Research Elizabeth Krupinski, PhD: Outstanding Researcher Award
Vice Chair for Health Policy and Practice Rich Duszak, MD: Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research - Distinguished Investigator Award

2020-2021 Chief Resident Charlotte Chung, MD, PhD: Austin Radiological Association/RSNA Research Resident Grant
