After a national search, Amit M. Saindane, MD, MBA, has been named Chair of the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences effective October 1, 2022.
Dr. Saindane has been serving as Interim Chair for the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences since January 1, 2022, following a seamless transition from the department’s former chair Dr. Carolyn Meltzer.
Dr. Saindane received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, his medical degree from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology followed by fellowship in neuroradiology at New York University Medical Center in New York, New York. Dr. Saindane later received his MBA from Emory’s Goizueta Business School and most recently completed the Woodruff Leadership Academy in 2022.
Beginning his career at Emory in 2008, he is currently professor of radiology and imaging sciences with a secondary appointment in neurosurgery. Dr. Saindane has previously served in key departmental roles including as vice chair of clinical affairs and director for the Division of Neuroradiology.
His research focuses on the application of advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques to improve understanding, diagnosis, and follow-up of neurological disorders, and he is widely regarded as an expert on the imaging of intracranial pressure disorders.
Dr. Saindane is extraordinarily well positioned for this role given his expertise across academic missions, his collaborative approach to problem-solving, and his commitment to operational excellence.
