Niah Boykin
Interventional Radiology Medical Assistant
Ms. Boykin has joined Emory Radiology after nearly eight years with Emory Healthcare. She has served as a medical assistant in Pediatrics, Neurology, Family Practice, and Gastroenterology, plus a stint as a traveling phlebotomist in Geriatrics. She began her studies at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA and completed studies at the Georgia Perimeter Campus in Atlanta. She earned her certification from United Medical Business Institute, where she graduated as class Salutatorian. "I always knew I would be in health care and since I was a little girl, all I wanted to do was care for others. I am happy to be part of the team in such a great department with great staff," she says.

Cynthia Hinton
Promoted to Senior Nurse Manager, Clinical Services and Operations
Ms. Hinton entered the Emory Healthcare system in 2021 as a nurse navigator for the Division of Interventional Radiology. In this role, she served as a liaison between IR patients and their health-care providers, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication throughout the care journey. Cynthia is excited to transition into this new role leading the IR nurse navigators, nurse coordinators and medical assistants. Outside of work, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her husband, parents, and church family.

Meena Joseph, MSN, RN, OCN
Interventional Radiology Nurse Navigator
Ms. Joseph first joined Emory Healthcare in 2005 as a nurse clinician for the inpatient Leukemia and Hematology Department, where she worked until Nov 2015. She subsequently worked in the Winship Cancer Institute as a nurse navigator with the Leukemia And Lymphoma service until 2022. In this role, she was responsible for enhancing the patient experience by providing a seamless navigation process from diagnosis to survivorship. She collaborated with the whole Interdisciplinary care team to triage, coordinate, and consistently manage patient care. She also served as a primary point of contact for patients and families, providing indirect and direct patient care and education as well as linkages to research/clinical trials. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Grand Canyon University in 2014, and is a Certified Oncology Nurse.

Maureen McCarthy, BSN, RN

Ms. McCarthy has been an Emory Healthcare employee for more than 25 years. She was hired as a certified medical laboratory technician and has held several positions including phlebotomist with Emory Medical Laboratory, EML-Affiliate Labs office manager, and medical laboratory technician at both Emory Family Medicine and Emory Urology. After two decades of working as laboratory personnel, Maureen attended Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University from where she earned her bachelor of science in nursing degree. While attending nursing school, she continued working with Emory Healthcare as a nurse tech, and upon graduation, secured a registered nurse position in the Neurosciences Department at Emory University Hospital. Maureen served as staff nurse, preceptor, and charge nurse on the Neuro floor before joining the interventional radiology team as a nurse navigator.

Samad Shah, MD
Assistant Professor, Division of Emergency and Trauma Imaging
Dr. Shah joins the Division of Emergency and Trauma Imaging after 12 years as a diagnostic radiologist in private practice. He earned his medical degree from St. Georges University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed diagnostic radiology residency with Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania.

She has been in healthcare since 2015 and brings a depth of experience from family medicine and gastroenterology. She is currently attending Chattahoochee Technical College pursing her associate of science in nursing (ASN) degree.
