Sam Marie Engle
Communications Specialist
Ms. Engle has more than 30 years of experience in communications for nonprofits and universities. She has been a freelance member of Emory Radiology's Communications and Creative Services team since 2016. Before that she spent 10 years connecting Emory’s teaching and research missions with addressing community issues through its Office of University Community Partnerships. She is an award-winning public policy advocate and communicator with special focus on ending sexual violence against women, welcoming new Americans, advancing health literacy and eliminating health disparities, empowering people with disabilities, and being antiracist. She earned an MHS in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Florida, an MS in urban studies/nonprofit administration from Georgia State University, and a BA in political science and economics from Emory University. She also holds a certificate in digital marketing and is completing a certificate in creative writing.

Christian Fauria-Robinson
Assistant Professor - Division of Interventional Radiology
Dr. Fauria-Robinson earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she also completed residency training in internal medicine. She subsequently completed diagnostic radiology residency at Tulane University Health Sciences Center, followed by a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a radiology fellowship at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

Dr. Fauria-Robinson earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she also completed residency training in internal medicine. She subsequently completed diagnostic radiology residency at Tulane University Health Sciences Center, followed by a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a radiology fellowship at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
Suzanne Ghannam
Assistant Professor - Division of Breast Imaging
Dr. Ghannam earned her medical degree from St. Matthew's University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman. She then completed an internal medicine internship at NorthShore University HealthSystem, Evanston Hospital in Illinois and a general surgery internship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. She then completed diagnostic radiology residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey and a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

She later relocated to Atlanta to obtain a master's degree in nursing from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing of Emory University. She has been an Emory employee for 12 years and has been the lead nurse practitioner in the surgical intensive care unit at Emory University Hospital Midtown for the last nine years.

Farid Hajibonabi
Senior Research Specialist - Division of Abdominal Imaging
Dr. Hajibonabi brings a broad research background in quantitative radiologic study of the body to his work with the Division of Abdominal Imaging. He has worked on imaging the effects of aging on the musculoskeletal system, specifically cartilage degeneration. He also has experience with evaluating intra-abdominal tumors and looking into different imaging features that could help determine if a lesion is operable. He also has investigated ultrasound imaging features to find the optimal protocols for identifying malignant breast tumors. In his new role, Dr. Hajibonabi will focus on abdominal radiology research, including optimizing techniques, converting findings into measurable data usable for machine learning, and designing clinical research studies. He earned his MD from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Tabriz, Iran.

Ms. Hunter completed the physician assistant training program and earned her master's degree from Barry University. Upon graduation, she began her career in neurosurgery at Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2015. She relocated to Atlanta in 2016 and continued practicing in neurosurgery with Emory Healthcare.

Mr. McMillan graduated with honors from Pacific University with a master's degree in physician assistant studies. Before joining Emory Radiology in January, he was an oncology/hematology physician assistant with Georgia Cancer Specialists for almost 16 years.

Ishmaheel O. Lawal
Senior Research Specialist - Division of Nuclearn Medicine and Molecular Imaging
Dr. Lawal is experienced with the use of SPECT and PET tracers for imaging of diseases and has applied different radiopharmaceuticals labeled with fluorine-18 or Gallium-68 in both clinical patient care and research settings. His experience with theragnostic radionuclide therapy includes beta-emitting and alpha-emitting radionuclides to treat diseases such as prostate cancer, neuroendocrine tumor, and well-differentiated thyroid cancer. His research activities will focus on using advanced molecular imaging techniques that exploit tumor metabolism, angiogenesis, and receptor expression to improve imaging of malignant conditions. He will be evaluating the role of radiopharmaceuticals for disease outcome improvement in patients with prostate cancer, renal cell carcinoma, and lobular breast cancer. He earned is MBBS from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria and a PhD from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Ms. Paige first joined Emory Healthcare in 2019 as a management engineer for Winship Cancer Institute, where she was responsible for helping teams improve their day-to-day workflow and improve the patient experience. She brings with her experience as an industrial engineer for Baptist Health in Montgomery, Alabama, and more than a decade working in manufacturing. Ms. Paige has been in the Alabama National Guard since 2010, and currently is the Company Commander for the 1207/1208th Quartermaster Company in Fort McClellan, Alabama. Ms. Paige earned an MS degree in industrial and systems engineering from Auburn University and a BS in nursing from the University of Alabama. She also is a Certified Quality Engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt.

Dr. Palasis is the medical director of pediatric neuroradiology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and professor of radiology in the divisions of Pediatric Imaging and Neuroradiology. Dr. Palasis previously served as division chief of pediatric neuroradiology and vice chair of operations at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Illinois and was a professor of radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. She is a past president of the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology and is an active member of numerous professional radiologic societies. Dr. Palasis has conducted research and published widely on the neuroimaging evaluation of pediatric central nervous system disease and is a sought-after speaker nationally and internationally. She earned her medical degree from Aristotle University School of Medicine in Greece. She completed diagnostic radiology residency with Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, and fellowship training in neuroradiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC and in pediatric neuroradiology at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Wang is a biomaterials researcher with six years of laboratory experience. His research expertise is on the development and processing of 3D porous scaffolds from natural polymers for tumor microenvironment and regenerative medicine applications. He will be focusing on developing novel biomaterials and imaging probes and image-guided drug delivery systems for application in molecular imaging of oncologic, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases. He completed his PhD in materials science and engineering at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
