New faces and appointments - August 2020

Zachary Bercu, MD
Assistant Division Director, Innovation and Strategy
Dr. Zachary Bercu, interventional radiologist, was recently appointed as the new assistant division director for innovation and strategy. Dr. Bercu has been practicing radiology at Emory for five years and received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York before making his way back to Atlanta as an attending.

Melissa Davis, MD, MBA
Medical Director of Quality
Dr. Melissa Davis is the newest member of the Radiology Quality Team. She joined us six weeks ago from Yale where she was previously the section chief for emergency radiology and medical director of clinical redesign. She hopes to amplify innovation from our faculty and staff and create long-term strategies for furthering patient care and provider experience that align with our department’s strategic goals.

Keith Herr, MD
Associate Professor
Dr. Keith Herr was recently promoted to associate professor. He has subspecialty training in abdominal imaging and has been practicing in the capacity of an emergency radiologist since beginning his career in radiology. He earned his in medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo. His academic focus is on trauma imaging research, medical student and radiology trainee education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Herr has lectured nationally and abroad on topics related to emergency radiology and resident education.

Mohammad Loya, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Mohammad Loya first joined Emory Radiology in 2019 as a vascular and interventional radiology fellow. He completed his residency training at Nassau University Hospital where he also served as chief resident. He joins Emory as an assistant professor and interventional radiologist.

Pradnya Mahtre, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Pradnya Mahtre, an abdominal radiologist, joins us at Emory from the Carilion Clinic in Virginia. She completed her residency training in diagnostic radiology at the Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her fellowship at the University of Virginia.

Ashishkumar (Ashish) K. Parikh, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Ashish Parikh is a pediatric radiologist with particular interest in pediatric MRI and oncologic imaging. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s in science and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.

Neil Resnick
Assistant Division Director, Clinical Operations
Dr. Neil Resnick first joined Emory Radiology in 2019. A medical school graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Dr. Resnick served in the United States Navy, including several years as an active duty medical officer and flight surgeon. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Maine Medical Center at Tufts University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Prior to joining Emory, Dr. Resnick was Division Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.

Hardik Shah, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Hardik Shah is an abdominal imaging radiologist and nuclear medicine physician with a focus on hybrid oncologic imaging, theranostics, and radioisotopes. He received his MBBS from the Government Medical College in Nagpur, India and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, India. Dr. Shah went on to complete his fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

He received his MBBS from the Government Medical College in Nagpur, India and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, India. Amol M. Takalkar, MD, MS, MBA, FACNM

Dr. Amol Takalkar is a board certified nuclear medicine and molecular imaging specialist with experience and expertise in PET/CT imaging. His research interests include moledcular imaging and therapy using FDG and other PET probes in oncology, neurology, cardiology, inflammation, infection, novel radionuclide therapies, and other pathophysiologic processes. Dr. Takalkar completed his medical degree at the B.J. Medical College in Pune, India. He received his master’s in science from the University of Virginia and completed his masters in business administration from Louisiana State University.
